Remember our last Giveaway- it was a part of GIVEAWAY DAY MAY 21st on SewMamaSew.com- one of the most amazing giveaway events online! I think they run it twice a year, so I am looking forward to the next one already- I am going to have something extra special for it!
There were hundreds of giveaways to choose from and I entered a couple just like everyone else. The one that caught my eye the most was on Sown Brooklyn and Wanett was kindly giving away a Victory pattern of your choice as one of two main prizes.
As my interest has been focused on pattern drafting recently, it seemed natural that I entered and to my absolute delight, I WON!!!!!!!!!
Victory Patterns are PDF printable patterns by Canadian independent designer Kristiann Boos. Her current collection is very cute, and very versatile. It is safe to say that most of the garments would suit any shape, and therefore are a great choice for anyone looking for an elegant dress, skirt or blouse with a hint of vintage.
I have mentioned it before, but I don't really dress vintage, I do like timeless elegance, and I do like to look contemporary, so the best suited choice for me was CHLOE- a semi-fitted medium length A-line dress featuring angled front seams, back princess seams, inseam pockets with a faux welt detail and a back zipper closure.
However, I must add that in general, Victory patterns current range is very different in style from my own, and I am still thinking whether to even bother with it right now. I wanted to get my hands on a few independently produced patterns to compare quality and ease of use. I like surfing the net looking for the ready made versions, so far I saw two, made by : Anna (::paunett::) and Lizz (A Good Wardrobe). Both girls' versions are lovely, but by saying so it fits within the other garments they make, but I never found myself longing to make the dress. There is a very creative tunic version by Amy from Diana and Me too. But is it flattering? To me all versions looked a bit bottom- fattening (((( sorry girls, no offense, it is just my personal opinions. Getting fabrics for me is a quest as there are no shops around, so I am extra careful before cutting anything out, I do literally cry over wasted fabric on every garment that turns out wrong these days (((
I even doubt I have picked the right pattern… but it is too late now.

Me-Made-May'2012
My Me-Made-May'2012 report for the last fortnight stalled as I was insanely busy for the last two weeks, I only have this shot taken with my phone at brunch in Eddie Rockets.
This is a lovely knitted poncho I made about 10 years ago, I have never blogged about before, but I have been wearing it literally every day, as the weather has been getting warmer and it was all I needed for the chilly summer nights. Work has been very busy too, so it was worn over the uniform most of the times, but I have to be true to the pledge- I will wear it till the end of May!
