Here is a challenge again, this slippery b***ch of a front piece fabric got under the scisssors when I was cutting off along the front hem, so I ended up with a slit just under the trimming.... Oh well, gladly, I had a lot of that lace left over so I just applied a second layer and it looks even better.
I am delighted with the result! I have to say- some time ago I decided that this is simply not my colour, and this fabric was destined to end up in a bin, or at the very best as a lining to something else. Now I am very happy with my decision to use it- I think it came out super cute! Don't you?
However, I am not claiming the win of the chiffon battle, I think I actually will avoid it in future, if I can...
It is very cute and I think you are wrong about it not being your color. It looks fantastic on you especially with some dark red lipstick to match!
ReplyDeleteI agree about the color. And hey, if you're still concerned about how it looks on you, the sheerness of it will certainly tone the color down!
ReplyDeleteCould you please point me out to this free Burda dress pdf that you wrote about from 09/2010 issue - that is only on German site. It is black leather.I didn't find it.

ReplyDeleteNice indeed! :-) Love the colour on you and it goes really well with your new pants! I've been thinking of making this exact top for a while now. My only problem is, that I can only find the magazine. I have no clue where the pattern sheet is :-P (Must dig thru piles and piles of fabric and paper...)
ReplyDeleteOMG- I hate that, I try to have everything together, but with so many magazines- one or two things are bound to get misplaced. Hope you will find it soon, this pattern is great!
ReplyDeleteI hear you! I'm normally over-organized with my magazines/pattern sheets, so I have no idea how this has happened! Seeing your gorgeous blouse, I'm afraid I have to turn over everything in my sewing room tomorrow. BTW. The shirtyou made some time ago. Red Burda-one with three ruffles on the sleeve, I made that today and I love it! I'll blog it as soon as I have bought some buttons for it. ;-)
ReplyDeletethat blouse was lovely, I want to make it again, but will take some fullness in on the pattern- I made a size too big out of cotton, and it just not slinky enough
ReplyDeleteLooks absolutely gorgeous. why don't you follow a fashionable stitches tip next time http://www.afashionablestitch.com/2011/tips-and-tricks/the-best-tip-for-cutting-slippery-fabrics/
ReplyDeleteyes- I new this trick, actually cutting it out I used a towel as a surface and it really worked, but the actual construction process was very offputting
ReplyDeleteLove the color and the overlay. The jeans are pretty awesome too! I will have to start subscribing to Burda!
ReplyDeleteI love this blouse, it is so beautiful and elegant! It is also my favorite rendition of this pattern. I haven't been able to locate the pattern online, do you have any tips on where I might find it or a similar pattern?
